President
President
The President is the chief executive officer of AWSSMC and presides at all meetings of the Membership and of the Board of Directors. The President has the general powers and duties usually vested in the office of President to a Society, including the right to sign, execute and acknowledge, on behalf of the Society, contracts and agreements, stock certificates and checks necessary or proper to be executed in the course of the corporation's regular business. The President has the power to appoint ad hoc committees of the Board of Directors from time to time as the President may deem appropriate to assist in the conduct of the affairs of AWSSMC.
Vice President
The Vice President assists the President and has such powers as the Board of Directors or President shall determine. In the absence or disability of the President, the Vice President will perform the duties and exercise the powers of the President. The Vice President assists with recruitment of members to serve in volunteer roles within the Chapter.
Secretary
The Secretary shall perform such duties as the Board of Directors or President determine. In the absence or disability of the President and of the Vice President, the Secretary shall temporarily perform the duties and exercise the powers of the President. The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors and of the Membership. Minutes will be reviewed and approved by the board members. Approved minutes shall be posted to AWSSMC’s website for access by members. The Secretary shall perform the duties and functions customarily performed by the Secretary of a Society and other duties as the Board of Directors or President may determine..
Treasurer
The Treasurer has authority over all funds. The Treasurer ensures a full and accurate account of all receipts and disbursements in books belonging to AWSSMC. The Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer or designee deposits all monies and other valuable effects in the name of and to the credit of AWSSMC in such depositories as may be designated by the Board of Directors. On a monthly basis, the Treasurer will fill out AWSSMC’s income & expense record which will automatically be posted to the AWSSMC website. After each tasting event, the Treasurer will reconcile bank statements and tasting spreadsheets. The Treasurer or designee shall disburse the funds of AWSSMC as appropriate to its tasting hosts as may be ordered by the Board of Directors.
Director of Tasting
The Director of Tasting is the lead liaison for member hosts who are planning a tasting. The Director of Tasting is accountable for reviewing and accepting a proposed tasting theme, updating the tasting calendar accordingly, and ensuring that the hosts have the registration flyer ready to post six weeks in advance of the tasting so that the Communications Manager and the Treasurer are positioned appropriately to accomplish their associated tasks.
